At this stage your more immediate challenge is finding sustainable, scalable growth drivers to augment the organic growth achieved through solid product/market fit and conversion optimization – Sean Ellis
The quote above reveals an interesting and very relevant part of marketing a startup. Your marketing activities should AUGMENT growth that you’re already achieving. If you are not achieving organic growth than no amount of clever marketing regardless of the budget is likely to have a big effect. However, if you have product/market fit and are seeing natural organic growth then the key is to use other channels as a multiplier of that growth, ensuring to track the returns each effort has on increasing your number of visits and conversions.
Therefore, at this stage we can assist you add “Offers and Channels” to your marketing mix, and monitor the effect each has on your growth. Whether these are traditional channels such as Print, TV, Radio, PR or new channels such as Online Display advertising, PPC does not matter – they key is forming short, sharp campaigns using new offers and channels and monitoring the results.
Typical investment at this stage requires:
1) Developing an “Offer, Channel, and Conversion” camapaign where we run one campaign via one media channel and monitor the returns. The costs of these depend entirely on your budget and your objectives but typically we charge $1000 – $1500 to brainstorm, implement and test one of these offers.
2) Additional costs may be incurred such as, writing copy, developing the creative, and materials etc. Most likely this will be co-ordinated through Crowdspring or 99designs to ensure good quality work at a reasonable cost to you.
Outsourced Sales and Marketing Manager
As your startup grows you will need an inhouse marketing expert that can co-ordinate campaigns, manage the marketing function, and manage the marketing and sales team but we recommend holding off until you have sufficient capital and growth to justify this move. In the meantime, we can play this role for your company on a retainer basis committing either a full, or few full days per week playing this role. This role will be filled by Andrew, or another suitably qualified person should our workload become too heavy.
Typical investment:
$2000 per month = 1 day per week. $24,0000 P.A
$4000 per month = 2 days per week, $48,000 P.A
If you require more than 2 days per week we recommend hiring a CMO as the costs of using us 3 days per week begin to outweigh the benefits of outsourcing this role.
